On this day, on a nice golf course in the middle of some lovely Dutch fields a battle ensued. A valiant fight of good vs evil. Fought between soft fluffy sand bunkers, meandering streams and manicured greens. I hit more well-groomed fairways than ever before in my life and “The Evil Swede” had to pull out all his tricks to keep it tight.

Backswing-talking, tall-standing Daniel made for a formidable enemy but Heiloo was nice to play and helped me in my battle. True greens, and quality condition made playing a joy and meant that if I was to lose, it was because of my own inabilities rather than some fault of the course. A few planes, some nearby construction and roads were less of an issue than would be expected and in general not even noticed by us as we focused on the fight at hand.

I hit 83 percent of my fairways, which for a man with the middle name of “McSlice” is quite extraordinary. Daniel was typically solid though making his pars, sinking 8 footers, and generally keeping it close to the pins. So regardless of my “laser-like” driving Daniel kept beating me down like a wounded dog.

A lot of fun though with many laughs made for a great day of golf, and a match that was close till the end, and, well… you’ll have to watch the video to see the outcome!
