I have done it! It has occurred… I have beaten the “Evil Swede”! And on an amazing links course to boot! A course that was quite simply one of the most beautiful courses we have ever played in The Netherlands.
The Texelse is a links course. It’s located on the Island of Texel (obviously) and you have to take a 20 min ferry over to the island to enjoy the course. This ferry trip had us thinking we were going golfing in another country and the dunes that welcome you upon arrival adds to this welcome deception. When arriving at the course, the scenery, just breathes links course and it almost makes you feel as if you have been teleported to Scotland.
The clubhouse is simple but fulfills it’s purpose, the nice woman at the reception helped us set up the tee times and arranged a buggy. Turns out she was the manager, and was super helpful, friendly and “on it”. Now that’s customer service!
It used to be a 9 hole course, but a few years back they added another 9 and we have to say, what a nine indeed. Just sublime placement of the brush, obstacles, the perfect fairways and lovely greens. It was moving. As you can see in the VLOG, we really fell in love with the course. One thing though… get a course book!!
But enough of that, it was a GREAT day of golf as well. Challenging, windy, everything a good links course is known for, and I was able to salvage some horrific shots to hold on to all-square and then power out a 2 point lead with 2 to play then, BAM, drained a 8 meter putt to seal the deal.
Yup, The Texelse was a lovely course and I am sure we will be back again.
